Six arrested while attending rap concert

A rap concert Friday night at the Placer County Fairgrounds kept law enforcement officials busy and landed a few people in the city jail."There were six arrests, ranging from drunk in public to carrying a concealed weapon," said Dee Dee Gunther, Roseville police spokesperson. "There was also one vehicle damaged and one vehicle stolen that night."Roseville Police were first called to the fairgrounds around 3:30 p.m. Friday, when anxious concertgoers were trying to get in before the gates opened, Gunther said."People started showing up around 3:30 p.m. for the concert, which didn't start until 7 p.m.," Gunther said. "They were trying to crash the gates."She noted event promoters had private security in place for the concert - which featured rap artists E40, Keak Da Sneak and others - but Roseville officers were also assisted by officials from the Auburn, Lincoln and Rocklin police departments, the California Highway Patrol, the Placer County and Sacramento County Sheriff's departments and the California State Parks Department."A lot of the officers were in the area for the Avoid the Seven event," Gunther noted, referring to a DUI saturation patrol that was scheduled for Roseville that night.Arrests and charges were:N At 4:56 p.m. Freddy Ponce, 20, of West Sacramento was arrested on out-of-county warrants and a charge of possession of a controlled substance. According to reports, Ponce drove into a parking lot at the fairgrounds and a Roseville Police officer checking him found him to have outstanding warrants for DUI out of Sacramento County and a suspended driver's license. He was also in possession of Ecstasy, police said. He was arrested and ordered held without bail, but was released Saturday because the Placer County Jail is at federal capacity.Other incidents at the rap concert included:N At 5:41 p.m. Rahsheda I. Scruggs, 20, of Sacramento drove into a parking lot at the fairgrounds in a vehicle with expired tags, police said. Officers found Scruggs to have an outstanding Sacramento Police Department warrant for traffic. Bail was set at $2,811. Scruggs was booked and released on a promise to appear.N At 6:39 p.m. Luis Jauregui, 20, of Sacramento was arrested for trespassing and released on a citation.N At 8:42 p.m. Justin Matthew Johnson, 23, of Roseville was found "enticing the crowd" at the entrance gate, trying to get in. He was arrested for being drunk in public and released on a citation to appear.N At 8:54 p.m. Roseville officers stopped a car with expired tags in the 500 block of Washington Boulevard. Officers found a loaded revolver concealed under the front passenger seat. Erica Amber Dale, 20, of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of being a vehicle occupant in possession of a concealed firearm and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Her bail was set at $5,000 and she was released on a citation. The driver, Saxton Cole Charles Rogers, 24, of Sacramento, was arrested on four charges related to carrying a concealed loaded firearm, and driving on a suspended license.
