Shots fired result attempted murder charge

A Roseville man remains in custody without bail in the Placer County Jail after police said he opened fire on a passing vehicle early Saturday morning.Faustino Anthony Perez, 21, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and assault with a firearm after investigators determined he was the suspected shooter. According to reports, police were called at 1:01 a.m. Saturday to Pleasant Grove Boulevard at Highland Pointe Drive to a report that shots had been fired."The vehicle, a BMW sedan, was riddled with bullets," said Dee Dee Gunther, spokesperson for the Roseville Police Department.Gunther said no one was severely injured in the shooting, though two people suffered minor abrasions, possibly from bullet ricochets."Everyone was checked out and released at the scene," she said.Reports state five male teenagers - two 18-year-olds from Roseville, two 18-year-olds from Rocklin and a 17-year-old from Roseville - had attended a party in the Lincoln area earlier in the evening, but left shortly after arriving because one of the teenagers was involved in a fight at the party.Police said the five teens were driving back to Roseville in a BMW sedan and were followed by three men in a Ford Explorer. Gunther said both vehicles were stopped at the intersection when the shots were fired. The driver's side window of the BMW was shattered, and several bullets were lodged in the driver's side of the vehicle.Gunther said the only known motive was the possible fight at the party in Lincoln.Following the reported shooting, Gunther said, police began searching for the suspect vehicle and located it and three occupants a short time later.Perez was arrested without incident outside his brother's apartment in Citrus Heights. Also arrested were Perez's brother, 20-year-old Antonio Marcell Perez of Citrus Heights, and Richard Russell Wink, 20, of Rocklin; both men were located and arrested without incident at Wink's Rocklin home. They were each charged with conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Roseville City Jail and released after posting $75,000 bail.- Sherri L.
