Roseville Police schedule DUI checkpoint Friday

Less than a month since Roseville's last sobriety checkpoint, which netted two arrests, police will set up operations Friday in an undisclosed location where significant numbers of DUI-related collisions have occurred, Roseville Police spokesperson Dee Dee Gunther said.In January and February, police investigated 17 alcohol- or drug-related collisions, which resulted in one death and four injured persons."DUI deaths and injuries are tragic and completely preventable," said Roseville Police Chief Joel Neves. "If you've been drinking or are under the influence of any other kind of drug, legal or illegal, don't get behind the wheel. "Stay where you are, take a taxi, call a sober friend, or call the Designated Driver Assoc-iation for a safe ride home," Neves said.Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin-istration.
