Youth football camp run by varsity coaches

Nearly 80 Folsom youth learned football from the Folsom High varsity football coaching staff last Saturday.Head Coach Kris Richardson and coaches Jordan Banning, Rian Henry, Troy Taylor, Chris Parry and Matt Navone, along with current players Grant Morgan and David Graves, instructed the players, most of which play in the Folsom Youth Football organization."The whole purpose is to get the kids experience with the high school coaches," Richardson said. "We're teaching them the same skills that we teach our players. We want to get them excited to play for the Jr. Bulldogs and we want them to be excited to some day play high school football."The camp, which ran from 8 a.m. to noon, featuring both offensive and defensive stations, as the players learned the skills of a quarterback, offensive lineman, running back and wide receiver, as well as a defensive lineman, defensive end, linebacker and secondary player on defense."Sports like baseball, soccer and basketball, there's a lot of different teams a kid can play on," Richardson said. "This is just another chance to get the kids' feet wet with football, along with the youth football and flag football programs in Folsom."
