Daniel D. Rubio

Daniel D. Rubio went home to be with the Lord after a tough battle with cancer. "Papa," as he was called by the grandkids, entered into rest on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at his home in Auburn. He was born in Los Angeles, California on October 19, 1945 and moved to the Auburn area in 1971.Dan served on the Auburn Police Department, was a union ironworker, and most recently was an LVN and director of staff development at Foothill Oaks Care Center. He served in the Vietnam War as a Navy Corpsman on the USS Kearsarge.Dan was loved by all who knew him and had a smile for everyone. He was an active fan in all his children's and grandchildren's activities. He hated to miss a game and never missed an opportunity to fish with his sons or to spoil his daughter. Dan taught dozens of kids the fundamentals of baseball as a Little League coach and was a former member of the Placer Hillmen's Booster Club, as well as a pitcher for several Auburn Recreation Softball teams over the years. He played until rotator cuff surgery in 2003.He was preceded in death by his brother Reggie and is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of 40 years, Terry; daughter Cynthia; sons Eric and his wife Nicole, and Aaron and his wife Julie; grandchildren Sharyce, Brianna, Alec, Alexis, Connor, Destiny and Kaitlyn; his parents, Richard and Estella Rubio; brothers Rene and Roland; sister Angie; and mother-in-law, Benerita "Nana" Paiz.A funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 14, 2005 at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 11600 Atwood Road in Auburn.
